Busy Weekend

We have had a busy weekend. Abby's room is in makeover mode. My friend Sara Beth has just started her own company (http://www.inspiredva.com/) and helped me with it. We painted Friday night. Saturday Eric and I had his Helo Ball which is a big formal event that happens once a year. All of the helicopter squadrons at his base get together for a big party. Today we had church at the oceanfront, then did some yardwork and then rearranged the furniture in Abby's room. We are waiting on a few more key pieces for her room...it should be done by the end of the week, so be watching for pictures.

Funny Story... Or so we think

At preschool they have been talking about colors and shapes. They have a snack that somehow correlates to what they are learning about that day. Last week we made blueberry muffins for blue circles. So, yesterday when I picked Abby up, I asked her what they talked about. They talked about pink hearts and orange triangles. I then asked her what they had for snack. Her response, " taco cheese burritos". I think for a minute about what could be orange and triangles and figured out that they had Nacho Cheese Doritos. I tried to correct her and she says, " no mommy they were nacho cheese burritos." So we changed from taco to nachos but she was still convinced that they were burritos instead of Doritos. Hilarious!

First Day of Preschool

Today is our baby's first day of preschool! Such a big day! She woke up, got dressed, let me do her hair, ate breakfast, took pictures and we got her to school. She gave kisses and hugs and told me "see ya later" and we left. No pictures outside today, it was raining!

Rainy Day Fun

Mary Kay (Eric's sponsor mom from the Academy) brought Abby an umbrella when we meet them for dinner. So, yesterday was a rainy day and she got to play outside with her umbrella and her rain boots (they are a little big). Thank you Ms. Mary Kay!!

Labor Day Weekend Trip to Washington DC

We took our first family trip to Washington DC this weekend. We wanted to take Abby to some of the museums. So, we drove up on Friday and went to the National Zoo. Most of the animals were inside so we didn't see a whole lot. Then we met Eric's sponsors from the Academy for dinner in Georgetown. We had a good time visiting with them and got to eat some pretty good BBQ. We stayed close to the DC area in Crystal City per our friend Sarah's recommendation. She grew up there so she was a huge help in planning. Saturday we got up and ready and we were off! We rode the Metro which Abby loved, went to the Natural History Museum and saw the dinosaur bones, went and had lunch at Hard Rock Cafe, went to the Air and Space Museum and then back to the Metro and to the hotel. Abby walked most of the way with only a few times of needing to be carried and Maddie was a trooper and was happy in the stroller most of the time and even took a few naps for us. Saturday night we went to a restaurant for dinner and we were able to watch the end of the OSU-Georgia game. They sat us at a table right next to a couple that was rooting for Georgia so they had a little voice from behind them saying "Go Pokes" and she had her pistol fingers up and shooting. Then we were able to catch kickoff of the OU Game and after a short walk back to the hotel and a quick swim we watched most of the OU game before bed. Sunday we got up and ready and got on the road. We decided on the way home to go the scenic route and we went and rode the Jamestown Ferry across the river which Abby thought was super cool. She said it smelled like fish so she needed her fishin' pole so she could catch some fish to make fried fish for breakfast. We are home and everyone seems to be glad to be back in their own space. We had a great weekend! Abby starts school on Tuesday so be looking for pictures then. Pictures from the weekend will be in an album on the right.
