Parent Teacher Conferences

Well, I just got home a little while ago from both girls parent/teacher conferences.  

Maddie- she is doing great!  she is shy and reserved but as long as her good buddy is there with her she does even better.  she always is anxious to learn and is a great listener.  nothing but glowing remarks about her!

Abby- she is doing fantastic as well!  she is above average in everything.  the school tests for the gifted program in january and her teacher thinks that she will do well on that.  her teacher said she is a delight!

Halloween 2012

We got to go trick or treating with friends tonight!  the girls had lots of fun and went down pretty easy when we got home!

Well, we celebrated Abby's 7th birthday with a trip apple picking in Charlottesville.  She got to have a 1/2 day of school so we could get on the road a head of the rest of the traffic.  We hung around downtown Charlottesville afternoon and early evening and then got tucked into our hotel for the evening.  Saturday morning we got up and headed towards the apple orchard.  We got there and had some apple cider donuts and hot apple cider, so good!!! We met a few other couples from our community group there and then we all headed up the mountain to find the apples.  Apples we found!  62.3 pounds of apples later, we left the mountain.  Once we got home, I have been busy making apple goodies.  20 jars of applesauce, 16 jars of apple butter, an apple pie, and an apple cake. I also used a few apples for pork chops tonight.  We have been eating them too.  I have probably 12-15 apples left.  

Disney on Ice

Thursday night we went to see Disney on Ice with some of our friends from church. The girls loved it!  We didn't get home until about 11:00pm so it was a little bit of a rough morning Friday getting them up and ready for school but they did it.

We had some family photos done at the beginning of September.  We were unsure about Eric deploying (we still don't know anything for sure) so we wanted to get some pics of him and the girls together.  I will post some more pics in an album to the right.  

First Days of School

Both girls are in school now!!!

 

Abby is LOVING first grade!  We are still working on our homework routine.  Some days she needs some down time when she gets home, some days she jumps right in. 

 

Maddie is LOVING preschool.  She is in class with her good friend, Kennedy.  A few of the other kids from our community group also go to her preschool so she is being able to see her friends and loving it.  We have had our first sickness though....we started out the week with an ear infection.  She is on antibiotics and doing much better.

Disney World and Update

Well, we have been back for about a week but I have just now been able to sit down and go through pictures!  I have posted a link to the right.  We spent 4 days at Disney (2 days at Magic Kindgom, 1 day at Hollywood Studios, 1 day at Animal Kingdom) then we spent one day at Sea World.  The girls had a fantastic time!!  We played hard every day so they were ready to crash each night!  They got to see lots of princesses.  We rode rides, Dumbo, Tea Cups, Its a Small World, Space Mountain.  Abby rode her first big girl roller coaster and loved it!  It was Space Mountain. 

 

Since we got home, Aunt Sara (Eric's sister), Uncle Trent and Cousin Titus came to visit for a week.  We had a great visit and played some more!  They went to the beach a couple of times, we did Open House for both girls at school, lots of playing and just hanging out. 

 

Abby will start 1st grade tomorrow.  She is super excited but a little nervous about remembering her lunch number in the lunch line.  Maddie will start preschool on Wednesday 3 days a week.  She is super excited!  We have a lot of friends from church who are going to preschool with her so she already has some friends.

Going to......

The girls are so excited!  This will be our first family vacation not going to visit family.  We have appointments at the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique and we have lunch with the Princesses!!  I will post pictures when we get back.

Our Day in Williamsburg

We had a fun day in Williamsburg with some friends!  We spent some time in Colonial Williamsburg and then went and visited our friend that is a fireman.  The girls had a great time climbing on the fire truck and getting the tour of the fire station.

Blueberry and Blackberry Picking

As soon as we got home from Oklahoma, we headed to the blueberry field!  We met up with some of our friends and picked blueberries and then went to Pungo Pizza for lunch (one of the girls favorites).  I have some berries that I need to start cooking with.  I did make some amazing blueberry muffins the other day.

We just finished our super busy week of Arts Camp!  The girls were troopers.  I had friends worked out for Maddie so she didn't have to be in childcare the whole time but after the second night she got to go into a class and do the dance with Abby.  We had 80 kids and about 40 adults.   It was a great time!!!  The girls are trying to catch up on the rest that they missed, they slept in yesterday until 9:45 am.  That never happens!!

Busy Summer!!!

Sorry I am so far behind on my posting!!!  I will try and start where we left off!

We finished out the school year the 2nd week of June and headed straight to Oklahoma for 2 weeks of fun with family.  We were in Oklahoma City for the first week.  Abby was able to participate in Kids Off Broadway at FBC,OKC.  I did that camp as a kid and then worked it as a teenager.  That Saturday we had a family reunion and a surprise 80th birthday for my grandma.  After that, we went to Ardmore to see my dad's parents and him.  They were getting ready for a family reunion and so we got to see Aunt Alicia too.  After that, we headed to Tulsa to spend a week with Eric's family.  I will put some pictures below and try to get some in an album also.
