We took our first family trip to Washington DC this weekend. We wanted to take Abby to some of the museums. So, we drove up on Friday and went to the National Zoo. Most of the animals were inside so we didn't see a whole lot. Then we met Eric's sponsors from the Academy for dinner in Georgetown. We had a good time visiting with them and got to eat some pretty good BBQ. We stayed close to the DC area in Crystal City per our friend Sarah's recommendation. She grew up there so she was a huge help in planning. Saturday we got up and ready and we were off! We rode the Metro which Abby loved, went to the Natural History Museum and saw the dinosaur bones, went and had lunch at Hard Rock Cafe, went to the Air and Space Museum and then back to the Metro and to the hotel. Abby walked most of the way with only a few times of needing to be carried and Maddie was a trooper and was happy in the stroller most of the time and even took a few naps for us. Saturday night we went to a restaurant for dinner and we were able to watch the end of the OSU-Georgia game. They sat us at a table right next to a couple that was rooting for Georgia so they had a little voice from behind them saying "Go Pokes" and she had her pistol fingers up and shooting. Then we were able to catch kickoff of the OU Game and after a short walk back to the hotel and a quick swim we watched most of the OU game before bed. Sunday we got up and ready and got on the road. We decided on the way home to go the scenic route and we went and rode the Jamestown Ferry across the river which Abby thought was super cool. She said it smelled like fish so she needed her fishin' pole so she could catch some fish to make fried fish for breakfast. We are home and everyone seems to be glad to be back in their own space. We had a great weekend! Abby starts school on Tuesday so be looking for pictures then. Pictures from the weekend will be in an album on the right.

I'm going to have to get your advice on a trip to DC...Nolan would love to see dinasour bones and to ride on the metro. He loves the new PBS show dinasour train.
