Weekend Pictures!

We didn't do anything out of the ordinary this weekend. Abby wanted me to use the flat iron on her hair on Saturday (she saw me doing mine), so I did her hair for her. She told me she was like the big kids now! Oh my! The pics of Maddie were from Sunday after church. I got her that dress last week at Carter's. She looks pretty cute, if I do say so myself! Have a great week!

15 years have passed....

15 years have passed since that fateful day in Oklahoma City. I remember I was not at school that morning, like everyone else. I was at the orthodontist office with my Papa. I had an appointment at 9:00 that morning. They were running behind and we were in the waiting room. I remember the building shaking, the windows rattled, the dust fell from the vaulted ceilings in the office. My initial thought was, "I'm getting out of here" and I was up and headed for the door. It stopped, and then it was like everyone was asking the same question, "what had happened". Then over the radio they said that something had happened downtown. They called my name to go back and have my appointment. I remember it taking longer than normal because every time that the radio broke in to give new information they stopped working on my mouth and listened. In the time that I was in the chair, my mom (who at the time worked about 6 blocks from the blast) called the doctors office and had asked Papa to take me to school when I was done. I didn't want to go to school, but mom was insistent that that was the safest place for me. She told Papa to get his tools from home and get to church (where she worked). The stained glass windows in the Sanctuary had been blown out from the blast. The church parking lot because a place for the rescue workers to rest and receive food. I remember that downtown was just an eery place after that. Our neighbor at the time was in the building and was hurt by flying glass. We have a friend from church at FBC that should have been in the building but was gone to a meeting out of state. There was a boy that I went to school with that lost his mother in the blast. You can talk to almost anyone in Oklahoma and they know someone who was in the building or was supposed to be. It is a day, I that don't think I will ever forget. I have yet to do the memorial museum as it brings back such vivid memories. But this summer, I think that I can do it. So, when we are home, Eric and I plan to go through the museum. I am not looking forward to the time when we have to explain the events that happened in OKC to Abby but I'm sure that day will come far before we are ready to tell her about it.

The Greatest Show on Earth!

Eric and I took Abby to the circus last night. We took her to dinner in Downtown Norfolk at Snappers (so she could have fried fish) and then we walked to the Scope Arena where the circus was. We got there early so she could do the all access preshow where you get to see the performers and such. So we took pictures, got her a tattoo on her hand, watched an elephant paint a picture. Then we went up to our seats and we watched the show. She liked the trapeze and tight rope best! We left a little early (she was tired!). We watched the elephants and headed out. So we missed the last 5-10 mins. We got her a Slurpee on the way home since we didn't get her anything at the circus. Maddie had a good time at home with the sitter! It was a good night of some one on one time with Abby. There are more pictures in the Spring 2010 album to the right.

Car Washing and Gardening

Maddie had her first experience of helping wash the cars this weekend. She loved it! She thought it was great fun to squirt the hose. We tranplanted our garden (squash, green beans, and carrots) to their pots this weekend. We also planted some herbs. We planted cilantro, parsley, basil and chives. So far, the plants are doing well. We had one green bean plant that a squirrel tried to dig up but I think I have fixed that problem for the time being. I read to put coffee grounds in the soil so I have tried that. I have also had people suggest cayenne pepper and rubber snakes. Abby prayed for her plants in Sunday School on Sunday. Hopefully that will make them fruitful!

Abby's Horse Pictures from School

Isn't she the cutest cowgirl???? These turned out really good! She did this in mid-March when Grandma Lisa was here. I will put the pics in the Spring 2010 folder and they will be bigger for printing.

Happy Easter

Happy Easter! We had a great day yesterday. My neighbor, Ms. Margaret, made the girls dresses. They are smocked and as cute as can be! We went to church and then came home and got ready for our company. We were supposed to have The Bowman's, The Lemn's and The Rollin's over for lunch. Well, that changed...the Bowman's double booked themselves as they are trying to see everyone before they move on Wednesday. The Lemn's ended up in the hospital with Mackenzie who had the stomach flu. So we ended up with The Rollin's and the Woltjer's. We had 5 adults and 7 kids so you can imagine our dinner! :) Pictures are loaded and are in Easter 2010 folder to the right.
